Mangaluru, May 12: The Panambur police have arrested an accused who had been absconding for the past six years after failing to appear for court hearings in connection with a theft case.
The arrested individual has been identified as Parul Hussain Laskar alias Parul (34), a native of Cachar district in Assam.
According to the police, in 2018, a gang of thieves broke into a mobile shop named 'Pooja Mobiles' situated in Kudumbur, Baikampady, and decamped with cash and goods worth Rs 2.17 lac.

The accused had deliberately failed to attend the court proceedings related to this case and had gone into hiding to evade the law. Consequently, the court had issued an arrest warrant against him.
Acting on the directions of higher officials, a police team led by Panambur police inspector Saleem Abbas tracked down the accused and successfully apprehended him in Manjeshwar, Kerala, on Monday, May 11. He was subsequently produced before the court.
The arrest operation was carried out under the guidance of inspector Saleem Abbas by head constables Naveen Chandra and Syed Imtiyaz, along with civil police constables (CPC) Rakesh and Vinay.
