Jaipur, May 14: Union defence minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday delivered a strong warning to Pakistan, asserting that any attempt to threaten India’s security or sovereignty would trigger consequences “never witnessed before.”

Reiterating India’s uncompromising stance against terrorism, Singh said the country has adopted a firm policy of “zero tolerance” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and would respond decisively to any hostile action.

“India has sent a clear message to the world that we maintain a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ against terrorism. If Pakistan attempts to cast an evil eye on us, then what has never happened before will inevitably occur,” he said.

The Defence Minister was speaking during the unveiling ceremony of a statue of Rao Dudaji in Merta town of Rajasthan’s Nagaur district.

Highlighting changes in India’s national security approach over the past decade, Singh said the country’s defence and strategic policies have undergone a major transformation, strengthening both military preparedness and global confidence in India’s response capabilities.

Referring to recent and past military actions, he said India’s armed forces had showcased their strength through the 2016 surgical strikes, the 2019 Balakot airstrikes, and the recently conducted “Operation Sindoor.”

Mentioning the Pahalgam terror attack, Singh stated that India had made it clear it would not remain silent in the face of attacks on its citizens.

“If Indian citizens are attacked, we will retaliate even across borders. No boundary can stop India from defending its people,” he asserted.

The Defence Minister also praised Rajasthan’s long-standing legacy of patriotism and sacrifice, saying the state has consistently inspired the nation through its brave soldiers and military traditions. He noted that countless families from Rajasthan continue to serve proudly in the armed forces.

Describing Rao Dudaji as a symbol of courage, justice, and righteousness, Singh said his life continues to inspire younger generations with ideals of bravery and commitment to dharma.

On women’s empowerment, the minister said respect for women has always been central to Indian culture and highlighted initiatives such as the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign and the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Act aimed at improving women’s representation and safety.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who also addressed the gathering, said India’s defence sector has witnessed rapid modernisation under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister, strengthening the country’s self-reliance in military production.

He praised the role played by the armed forces during “Operation Sindoor” and said Rajasthan’s legacy of valour continues to motivate the nation.

The Chief Minister further said the state government is actively working to preserve Rajasthan’s cultural and historical heritage through the development of memorial panoramas dedicated to prominent saints, warriors, and historical personalities across the state.

He also highlighted ongoing development initiatives in agriculture, irrigation, and infrastructure, including projects such as the Ramjal Setu Link Project, the Yamuna Water Agreement, strengthening of the Indira Gandhi Canal and Gang Canal, along with the Mahi, Dewas, and Som-Kamla-Amba projects.
