Two sisters die after getting trapped inside abandoned car in Alwar

Jaipur, May 20: In a tragic incident in Rajasthan’s Alwar city, two young sisters lost their lives after becoming trapped inside a damaged car while playing near their home in the Khudanpuri area on Wednesday.

The victims, identified as Tina (8) and Lakshmi (5), are believed to have suffocated after the vehicle door failed to open from the inside.

According to police, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. near a local car repair centre where a damaged red vehicle had been parked. CCTV footage reportedly shows the sisters approaching the car, entering through the driver’s side and shutting the door behind them.

Investigators said the children were later unable to unlock or reopen the door, leaving them trapped inside the vehicle.

Their father, Ramesh, who runs a salon in the area, said he had gone to work after leaving the children at home. When he returned around noon, the girls were missing.

“We searched nearby and later found them unconscious inside the car,” he said.

Local residents helped rush the children to the district hospital, where doctors declared both dead.

Family members said workers at the nearby repair centre had earlier warned the girls and tried to keep them away from the abandoned vehicle, but the children reportedly returned while playing.

The incident has left the family devastated, especially as the sisters had already lost their mother to a heart attack four years ago.

Station House Officer Gurudutt Saini of Vaishali Nagar Police Station said the vehicle was in a severely damaged condition, with its engine and battery already removed.

“Preliminary investigation suggests the children could not reopen the door after entering the car, which led to suffocation. A detailed investigation is underway,” the officer said.
