Mangaluru: Catholic Board of Education organises English Enrichment Course

Mangaluru, May 23: The Catholic Board of Education organised a three-day English Enrichment Course at St Aloysius English Medium School, Urwa with the aim of enhancing the language skills and teaching methodologies of educators.

The inaugural programme of the course was held on May 21 in the school hall.

The programme commenced with a warm and graceful welcome by the master of ceremony, Roshini D’Souza, who introduced the dignitaries present for the occasion.

 

The distinguished guests included Fr Benjamin Pinto, correspondent of St Aloysius English Medium School Urwa, Anitha Veigas, the resource person for the course, Fr Rithesh Rodrigues, the newly appointed correspondent of St Rita's School Cascia, Matilda D’Costa, headmistress of St Rita's School, and Aloysius D’Souza, headmaster of St Aloysius English Medium School Urwa.

The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer service led by teachers Laveena Pinto and Shanthi Lobo along with their team, invoking God’s blessings upon the programme and its participants. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by the headmaster, Aloysius D’Souza, who warmly welcomed the gathering and emphasised the importance of continuous language enrichment and professional development for teachers.

The dignitaries then inaugurated the programme through the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising the spread of knowledge and wisdom.

Fr Benjamin Pinto addressed the gathering with an inspiring message, encouraging teachers to constantly upgrade their language skills and adopt innovative teaching practices to enrich classroom learning.

Fr Rithesh Rodrigues also shared a few motivating words and appreciated the initiative taken by the CBE in organising such a meaningful programme for educators.

The inaugural programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Matilda D’Costa, headmistress of St Rita's School, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, organisers, resource person, and participants for their presence and support.

Following the inaugural ceremony, the resource person Anitha Veigas commenced the enrichment session. Beginning with the fundamentals, she systematically explained various aspects of English grammar in depth. The session was highly informative, interactive, and engaging, enabling the teachers to actively participate in the learning process. Worksheets and activities were provided, making the sessions practical, enjoyable, and enriching.

Refreshment and lunch breaks were arranged for the convenience of the participants throughout the day.

The first day of the English Enrichment Course concluded successfully with the teachers being assigned homework in preparation for the next day’s session. Overall, the programme proved to be highly enriching, insightful, and beneficial for all the participating teachers.
