Kundapur, Jun 15: "God's love is unconditional and free from selfishness, expectations, or conditions. One does not need to accomplish great achievements to experience God's love; a pure heart and sincere devotion are enough," said Bishop Dr Leslie Clifford D'Souza of the diocese of Udupi.
He was delivering the homily during the solemn Eucharistic celebration held on Saturday in connection with the annual feast of St Anthony's Shrine at Kerekatte, Siddapur, and the inauguration of a newly constructed home for the destitute.

Bishop Dr Leslie D’Souza said that while human love may sometimes fade, divine love never ends. "Even when we make mistakes, God forgives us and guides us on the right path. When we help others selflessly without expecting anything in return, the goodness that flows from such acts protects and enriches our lives," he said.
He further emphasized that service rendered to the poor and destitute in God's name, with a sincere and pure heart, will surely be rewarded. Selfless service, whether directly or indirectly, brings goodness and blessings to humanity, he added.
The newly built home for the destitute was inaugurated by chief patron Philip D'Costa of Basrur, who cut the ceremonial ribbon. Donors who contributed towards the construction of the home and those who supported the annual feast celebrations were felicitated on the occasion.
The gathering also felicitated Bishop Dr Leslie Clifford D'Souza on his first visit to the shrine after assuming office, along with senior clergy, the shrine rector, and the superior of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate, who oversee the management of the home.
Among those present were Monsignor Francis Xavier Lewis, vicar general of the diocese of Udupi; Fr Steven D'Souza, chancellor; Fr Paul Rego, dean of Kundapur Deanery; Sr Elsie, superior of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate; several priests from the dioceses of Udupi and Mangaluru; and more than 6,000 devotees.
The rector of the shrine, Fr Sunil Vegas, welcomed and thanked the gathering. Fr Roy Lobo and Fr Wilson D'Souza compered the programme.
Speaking on the future vision of the diocese, Bishop Dr Leslie Clifford D'Souza said that while priority would be given to the spiritual growth of the faithful, efforts would also be made to enhance the quality of education in diocesan institutions. He revealed that plans are being discussed to establish a well-equipped hospital to strengthen healthcare services within the diocese.
"If devotees and generous benefactors join hands in supporting this noble initiative, the dream can become a reality in a short span of time," the bishop said.
