Mumbai, Jun 27: Netflix has unveiled the trailer of ‘Super Subbu’, its first-ever Telugu original series, offering a glimpse into a quirky, humour-filled story that tackles the sensitive subject of sex education in a rural setting.
Headlined by Sundeep Kishan, the series follows Subramanyam “Subbu” Chillukuri Rao, a sincere and well-meaning teacher who is posted to the fictional village of Maakipur. What begins as a routine assignment soon turns into a series of comic misadventures when he is entrusted with conducting sex education classes in a conservative community.

Set against the backdrop of rural Andhra Pradesh, Super Subbu combines humour, confusion and social commentary as it explores how a taboo subject sparks misunderstandings, rumours and unexpected challenges.
The trailer showcases a blend of light-hearted comedy and emotional moments, suggesting that the series will address important social themes while keeping audiences entertained.
Actor Mithila Palkar plays an aspiring social media influencer who dreams of becoming an actor. Her character is expected to add depth to the narrative, bringing themes of ambition, identity and self-discovery into the story.
As Netflix's maiden Telugu original production, Super Subbu marks a significant step in the streaming platform's efforts to expand regional storytelling and reach wider audiences both in India and abroad.
While the trailer focuses on humour and cultural awkwardness surrounding sex education, the series appears to delve deeper into themes of personal growth, acceptance and changing social attitudes.
Super Subbu is set to premiere on Netflix on July 2.
