Bengaluru, Jun 25: In a move aimed at ensuring effective supervision and management of natural disasters across Karnataka, the state government has assigned district-wise responsibilities to the deputy chief minister and Cabinet ministers with immediate effect and until further orders.
As part of the arrangement, minister for Health and Family Welfare, U T Khader has been entrusted with overseeing disaster management and coordination efforts in the coastal and Malnad districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Kodagu.

The decision comes amid the monsoon season, when these districts are often vulnerable to heavy rainfall, flooding, landslides and other weather-related emergencies.
According to the government order, ministers have been assigned specific districts to monitor preparedness measures, coordinate relief operations and ensure prompt response in the event of natural calamities.
Deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwara has been given charge of Tumakuru and Chitradurga districts, while K H Muniyappa will oversee Bengaluru Rural, Ballari and Vijayanagara districts.
Ramalinga Reddy has been assigned Bengaluru South and Mandya districts, M B Patil will supervise Vijayapura and Bagalkote districts, and K J George has been entrusted with Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Davanagere districts.
Krishna Byre Gowda will oversee Bengaluru Urban and Hassan districts, Eshwar Khandre has been assigned Bidar and Gadag districts, while Satish Jarkiholi will monitor Belagavi, Dharwad and Haveri districts.
Priyank Kharge has been given responsibility for Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts, Dr Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil for Raichur and Koppal districts, Byrathi Suresh for Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts, and Yathindra Siddaramaiah for Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts.
The government said the district-wise assignments are intended to strengthen disaster preparedness, improve coordination among departments and ensure swift assistance to affected communities during emergencies.
