Mumbai, Jun 25: Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is set to return to his action-packed avatar with his upcoming film ‘Chauhaan’, the first look of which was unveiled on the birth anniversary of his late father and renowned stunt director Veeru Devgan.
The upcoming political action thriller marks Ajay Devgn’s first collaboration with filmmaker Aanand L Rai and promises to bring back the larger-than-life action hero image that has been loved by his fans.
The title announcement video gives a glimpse into the intense world of Chauhaan, presenting Ajay in a gritty and powerful role. The two-minute teaser opens against the backdrop of Kashmir, showing unrest, stone-pelting and clashes between militants and security forces.
The teaser introduces Chauhaan as a man assigned with a challenging mission to tackle insurgency and restore peace in the region.
Ajay makes a dramatic entry wearing a mask covering half his face and carrying a travel bag with a vintage music deck. As the popular Bollywood song “Jumma Chumma De De” from Amitabh Bachchan’s film Hum plays in the background, the character is portrayed as a fearless hero ready to take on his enemies.
The teaser has also sparked discussions online after the dialogue, “Pathaanon se kehna, Chauhaan aa raha hai” (Tell the Pathans that Chauhaan is coming), caught viewers’ attention.
Many fans speculated whether the line was a reference to Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster film Pathaan, which became the first Hindi movie to cross the Rs 1,000 crore mark globally.
Social media users reacted to the dialogue, with some wondering whether Ajay’s film was taking a playful dig at Pathaan. Some also pointed out similarities involving Ajay’s masked look and Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jawan.
The announcement carries special significance as it was released to honour Veeru Devgan, who was one of India’s most celebrated action directors and stunt choreographers. He worked on more than 200 films and played a major role in shaping Bollywood action cinema.
The makers described Chauhaan as a tribute to Veeru Devgan’s contribution to the industry and his influence on action filmmaking.
The film is scheduled to release in theatres on October 1, 2027. It is presented by Jio Studios and Colour Yellow Productions and is directed by Neeraj Yadav. The film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma.
