Udupi, Jun 26: At a time when the global community faces unprecedented systemic risk, a profound call to reshape modern development metrics has been issued to dignitaries and leaders worldwide. Addressing the thematic dialogue, dangerous intersection of climate change, resource conflict, and national debt in the International Council Meeting of Religious Leaders, His Holiness Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji challenged modern policy paradigms and advocated for an urgent evolution of human consciousness rooted in ancient Vedic philosophy.

The presentation systematically dissects how contemporary economic frameworks, which prioritize GDP and limitless material extraction, have destabilized the global order. By treating nature as an economic commodity rather than a sacred entity, humanity has accrued an unsustainable ecological deficit. This environmental imbalance directly causes severe resource scarcity, triggering local displacement, geopolitical instability, and humanitarian warfare.

Swamiji urged to stop treating climate change, military conflict, and financial debt as separate policy agenda items, framing them instead as collective symptoms of a deeply fractured worldview.

The Concept of 'Adharma' and 'Runa': Disrupting natural ecosystems for short-term material gain is identified as Adharma (cosmic disruption). This results in modern overconsumption causing Runa - a profound moral debt stolen from future generations.

Vedic principles as global solutions: To reverse this breakdown, Swamiji introduced the foundational philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one single family), demanding that nations look beyond geopolitical borders to protect all living systems.

Actionable reciprocity: The ancient concept of Yajna (sacred offering) is presented as a spiritual blueprint for modern circular economies, ethical consumption, and sustainable infrastructure.

Sri Puthige Swamiji’s address was concluded with a sharp directive for religious and community leaders to spearhead this transition. By guiding humanity away from the darkness of exploitation and into the light of ecological harmony, global citizens are called upon to honor the Earth as a living Mother and collectively shoulder the absolute responsibility of sustaining life.

The president of Mauritius, Shri Dharam Gokhool welcomed the Swamiji to the presidential palace. Impressed by Swamiji’s religious, spiritual, and social contributions, the president learned from him about the essence of the Madhva philosophy and the background of the establishment of Udupi Shri Krishna. The president appreciated Shri Puthige Swamiji's collaboration with religious leaders around the world in promoting interfaith peace and harmony and requested him to provide guidance to the people of Mauritius.

After receiving the Swamiji's blessings, the president accepted a copy of the Bhagavad Gita to participate in the "Koti Geetha Lekhana Yajna" initiative. Pujya Shri also invited him to visit Udupi during his next trip to India.
