Bantwal, Jun 27: An eight-month pregnant cow was rescued after it fell into an open well without a compound wall at Kuddupadavu in Kepu village, following a joint rescue operation by local residents, social workers and a veterinary team.

The cow, belonging to Sadananda Shetty, had been left for grazing near the house of Kasim at Kuddupadavu when it accidentally fell into the open well.

Members of Friends Vitla team, led by Muralidhar, initially attempted to lift the animal from the well. However, as the rescue proved difficult, a crane was brought in and the cow was safely lifted out.

Veterinary emergency doctor Dr Sunil Bantwal, driver Jayaganesh and Adyanadka veterinary inspector Lakshman Saravu attended to the cow and provided first aid after the rescue.

The timely efforts of locals and the rescue team helped save the life of the pregnant animal.
