Mangaluru, Jul 4: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru celebrated Vanamahotsava on July 4 with a vibrant programme that echoed gratitude for nature and inspired a collective commitment towards environmental conservation.
The celebration began with a prayer of thanksgiving to the Almighty, invoking blessings for the protection and preservation of Mother Earth. Students Varali, Thanishk and Joanna warmly welcomed the chief guest, Ravishankar C, IFS, deputy conservator of forests, Mangaluru, along with the principal, Sr Melissa, coordinators, teachers, parents and students. A graceful welcome dance beautifully captured the splendour and serenity of nature.

















































A thought-provoking skit, 'The Cry of the Trees,' interwoven with songs, dances and powerful dialogues, delivered a compelling message on protecting the environment. The symbolic planting of saplings by the chief guest, the principal, teachers, parents and student representatives reinforced the importance of planting trees and nurturing nature for future generations.
Addressing the gathering, Ravishankar C lauded the students for their meaningful performances and appreciated the powerful environmental message conveyed through every act. He urged parents and the institution to become true custodians of nature by investing in a greener and cleaner future. He also encouraged educators to provide children with opportunities to experience and learn from nature as an integral part of the teaching-learning process.
Principal Sr Melissa expressed her gratitude to Ravishankar C for gifting saplings to the school. She applauded the students for their inspiring presentations and specially appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and mothers in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative. She encouraged everyone to actively support this meaningful movement initiated by the Government of India and CBSE.
As part of the Vanamahotsava campaign, eco club leader Arlene Caselino of grade X E administered the environmental pledge, with the entire gathering reaffirming their commitment to protect and conserve nature.
The programme was hosted by the students of grades IV D and E. Ayush, Shanaya and Vian proposed the vote of thanks, while Krizelle, Noah, Seth and Nia compered the event with enthusiasm. The winners of the drawing and elocution competitions conducted in June were felicitated by coordinators Tr Jenitha and Tr Sandra.
The celebration culminated with the chief guest, the principal, teachers and members of the Eco Club planting saplings on the school campus, symbolising hope for a greener tomorrow.
Vanamahotsava 2026 left everyone inspired to cherish the richness of Mother Earth and reaffirmed the shared responsibility of safeguarding the environment for generations to come.
