Mumbai, Jul 5: Actor Celina Jaitly is set to return to the silver screen after a six-year hiatus with Nibedita, a biographical drama based on the life of renowned social reformer and educator Sister Nivedita.
The film will chronicle the inspiring journey of Margaret Elizabeth Noble, the Irish-born teacher who became Sister Nivedita after embracing the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. It will trace her life-changing meeting with Vivekananda in London, which inspired her to move to Calcutta in 1898 and dedicate her life to India's educational and social development.
The biopic is expected to highlight Sister Nivedita's contributions to women's education, public service and nation-building, while depicting her transformation from an Irish educator into one of India's most respected social reformers.

Filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee will direct the period drama, adding another real-life story to his repertoire of biographical films. Production is expected to begin in early 2027, while details of the supporting cast, filming locations and release date are yet to be announced.
Nibedita marks Celina Jaitly's return to acting after several years away from mainstream cinema. She was last seen in the 2020 short film Season's Greetings, while her last major Bollywood release was the 2011 comedy Thank You, in which she portrayed the character Maya.
