Mumbai, Jul 10: Veteran actor Anupam Kher has unveiled his first look from the upcoming film Shri Rambhoomi, revealing that he will portray late Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal.

The actor shared photographs from the film's sets in Ayodhya on social media, where shooting is currently underway. In the images, Kher is seen dressed in a white kurta-pyjama with a traditional angochha, spectacles and a red-and-white tilak, closely resembling Singhal.

Sharing the pictures, Kher said he decided to officially introduce his character after images from the set began circulating online.

Describing the role as one of the most significant of his career, Kher said Ashok Singhal played a pivotal role in guiding the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement with unwavering dedication and devotion.

"Portraying such a historic personality with honesty and sensitivity is a tremendous responsibility. I will give my absolute best with complete dedication and seek your blessings and good wishes," he wrote in his post.

The actor also described Singhal as more than just a leader, calling him a devoted follower of Lord Ram whose faith and commitment inspired the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Shri Rambhoomi is currently being filmed in Ayodhya, though the makers are yet to announce its release date and complete cast.
