Delhi HC upholds Rajpal Yadav's conviction in cheque bounce case, cuts jail term to three months

New Delhi, Jul 10: The Delhi High Court has upheld Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav's conviction in a cheque bounce case while reducing his jail sentence from six months to three months.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma dismissed Yadav's plea seeking the benefit of probation under the Probation of Offenders Act, observing that the actor was not entitled to such relief in view of his conduct during the legal proceedings.

While affirming the conviction, the court granted partial relief by reducing the sentence imposed on the actor from six months to three months.

The case pertains to the dishonour of a cheque issued by Yadav, an offence punishable under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Further details of the High Court's order are awaited.
