Chennai, Jul 13: Vijay's much-awaited swansong, Jana Nayagan, is finally set for release after a seven-month delay, with UK distributor Ahimsa Entertainment confirming that the film will be screened in British cinemas without any cuts.
Announcing the update on X, Ahimsa Entertainment said the film has received a 15 rating in the UK without any modifications.
"THE HONOURABLE CHIEF MINISTER OF TAMIL NADU. C JOSEPH VIJAY," the distributor posted, adding, "Jana Nayagan in UK cinemas July 24 — uncut, 15-rated. All the action, all the mass, all the Thalapathy craze, exactly as it was meant to be seen. One last time."
The distributor also revealed that advance bookings had received an overwhelming response, with thousands of tickets reportedly sold within an hour of bookings opening.
"Thousands of UK tickets sold in 60 mins. The craze for this one name is just unbelievable. #JanaNayagan," the company said.
Describing the film as Vijay's farewell to cinema, the distributor urged fans to turn out in large numbers.
"Years from now, people will ask if you were there. Make sure your answer is YES. This isn't just a film. It's a goodbye to the man who gave us everything. UK — we need you in those seats. We need you going MAD. We need you NOW. Share it far and wide, and let's make this the biggest send-off Tamil cinema has ever seen!" it added.
The announcement comes after Jana Nayagan finally received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), bringing an end to months of uncertainty.
Originally scheduled for release in January, the film was delayed after the CBFC raised objections during the certification process, leading to multiple rounds of revisions and cuts. The project also faced a setback after a leaked version surfaced online, triggering concerns over piracy.
The film has now been granted an 'A' certificate after the CBFC directed 12 cuts, including edits to political references and other sensitive scenes.
Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani also feature in key roles.
