Bengaluru, Jul 14: The Karnataka government has appointed Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar and Rohini Sindhuri as district in-charge secretaries for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts respectively, as part of a statewide exercise assigning senior IAS officers to oversee development works, implementation of government schemes and redressal of public grievances.
The government has appointed 31 IAS officers as district in-charge secretaries across Karnataka. The appointed officers will be responsible for monitoring development programmes in their respective districts, reviewing the progress of key sectors and submitting reports to the state government.

According to the official order, the officers will visit their assigned districts and assess the implementation of government initiatives, particularly in areas including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and welfare schemes. The move is aimed at improving transparency in administration and strengthening accountability among district-level officials.
Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar has been assigned charge of Dakshina Kannada, while Rohini Sindhuri will oversee Udupi district.
The other appointments include Rittik Ranjan Pandey for Bengaluru Urban, Dr P G Jaffer for Bengaluru Rural, G Manjunath for Bengaluru South, Dr N Manjula for Chikkaballapura, Amalan Aditya Biswas for Chitradurga, Dr Shamla Iqbal for Davanagere and Salya K Fahim for Kolar.
B B Kaveri has been appointed for Shivamogga, Deepa Cholan for Tumakuru, S B Shettannavar for Belagavi, Sushama Godbole for Uttara Kannada and Dr R Vishal for Haveri.
The list also includes Mohammed Mohsin for Bagalkote, Mushar J Chowdhury for Vijayapura, Tulasi Maddineni for Dharwad, Dr M V Venkatesh for Gadag, Dr K V Trilokchandra for Ballari, Dr Randeep for Bidar, Subodh Yadav for Kalaburagi, K P Mohanaraj for Koppal, S S Nakul for Raichur and Manoj Jain for Yadgir.
For the remaining districts, Dr K G Jagadeesh has been appointed for Vijayanagara, Dr S Selvakumar for Mysuru, Manoj Kumar Meena for Mandya, Dr N V Prasad for Kodagu, R Vinoth Priya for Chamarajanagar, Naveen Raj Singh for Hassan and R Girish for Chikkamagaluru.
Officers tasked with inspections, public grievance monitoring
The district in-charge secretaries have been directed to conduct regular and surprise inspections of schools, colleges, student hostels, anganwadis and government hospitals to review service delivery at the grassroots level.
They have also been asked to monitor essential services including drinking water supply, road connectivity, electricity supply, healthcare facilities and sanitation works, while ensuring that public issues are addressed promptly.
The officers will have to upload monthly inspection reports on the government’s designated DIS portal. They have also been instructed to participate in gram sabhas, hear public grievances and speed up the disposal of pending revenue and land-related cases.
The government has further directed them to take preventive measures against infectious diseases, including Nipah virus and other outbreaks, as part of strengthening district-level preparedness.
