Jaipur, Aug 26: Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar on Tuesday reviewed the state's preparedness to prevent and control seasonal diseases during the monsoon, with special focus on rising H1N1 cases reported in Delhi, Bengaluru and other parts of the country.
Khimsar held a detailed review meeting at Swasthya Bhawan, the headquarters of the Health Department, covering dengue, malaria, chikungunya, scrub typhus and swine flu.
He directed officials to form teams for regular monitoring of high-risk areas and instructed all Joint Directors and Chief Medical and Health Officers (CMHOs) to maintain heightened vigilance and adopt a proactive approach.
The minister also reviewed the availability of medical equipment, diagnostic facilities and medicines at healthcare institutions across the state.
During division-wise discussions, Khimsar stressed the need for intensive surveillance of swine flu and directed officials to ensure that diagnostic and treatment services remain readily available.
He ordered that the essential "trio" of three doctors be present at all First Referral Units (FRUs) and trauma centres across Rajasthan.
Khimsar also emphasised the availability of necessary diagnostic tests and medicines and the operational readiness of medical equipment. CT and MRI services are already available at most advanced medical institutions, while facilities without the services will be provided access through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The minister directed officials to align the deployment of doctors and healthcare staff with patient load at individual institutions. He also stressed that no post should be occupied by more than one person.
Joint Directors were instructed to submit reports within three days on institutions that have not complied with prescribed staffing norms.
Khimsar also sought feedback on diagnostic services being delivered under the "Hub and Spoke" model.
In addition, he directed officials to provide the staff and facilities requested by the CMHO for the Ramdevra Fair in Jaisalmer district.
Nodal officers also presented updates on several health initiatives, including the Setu App for referral management, TB Mukt Bharat, HPV vaccination, Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir, the PCTS Delivery Watch programme and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission.
Officials present at the meeting included NHM Additional Mission Director T. Shubhamangla, RCH Director Madhu Rateshwar and Additional Director (Hospital Administration) Narottam Sharma, among others.
