New Delhi, Aug 27: Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh on Thursday reviewed the preparedness of government hospitals and the Health Department in view of the rising number of H1N1 cases in the national capital.

As many as 166 new H1N1 cases were reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the capital to 2,612.

Dr Singh inspected the special H1N1 isolation ward and reviewed arrangements for the treatment and care of patients.

During his visit, the minister interacted with doctors, healthcare workers and patients and took stock of the availability of beds, oxygen, medicines, intravenous fluids, testing facilities and other essential medical infrastructure.

Dr Singh said he was closely monitoring the preparedness of Delhi government hospitals and ensuring that all necessary arrangements were in place to deal with the increasing number of H1N1 cases.

The review comes as health authorities continue to monitor the situation and strengthen hospital preparedness to ensure timely treatment and adequate facilities for patients.
