Chennai, Sep 4: After months of anticipation and speculation, Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Jailer 2’ has finally got an official release date. The highly awaited sequel to the 2023 blockbuster will hit theatres on October 15, 2026.

The makers, Sun Pictures, announced the release date on X, putting an end to earlier reports suggesting a September release.

“October 15th Alappara Kelappurom! #Jailer2,” the production house announced.

The film’s release coincides with the Dussehra festive period, providing the much-awaited sequel with a favourable window at the box office. Earlier, reports had suggested that the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial could be delayed due to reshoots.

Rajinikanth will reprise his popular role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Nelson returning as director and Anirudh Ravichander once again composing the music.

The first ‘Jailer’, released in 2023, emerged as one of Rajinikanth’s biggest hits and generated considerable anticipation for its sequel.

The makers have already built momentum around ‘Jailer 2’ through promotional material, including an announcement teaser and the song ‘Ala Bolelo’.

The sequel features an expanded cast, with Vijay Sethupathi set to make a cameo appearance. SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Vidya Balan are also part of the cast.

With Rajinikanth and the original creative team returning, ‘Jailer 2’ is set to arrive in theatres on October 15, 2026.
