Udupi, Sep 12: Adani Foundation CSR distributes school kits worth Rs 40 lacs covering 7,000 students in Udupi. Initiative covers 85 government and government-aided Kannada medium schools across the district
Reinforcing its commitment to strengthening rural education and supporting children from economically disadvantaged families, Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of the Adani Group, has distributed school kits worth Rs 40 lacs to 7,000 students across 85 government and government-aided Kannada medium schools in Udupi district.
The initiative has been undertaken by Adani Power Limited – Udupi Thermal Power Plant as part of its ongoing CSR interventions in the region. The school kits include essential educational materials such as school bags, notebooks, geometry boxes, umbrellas and other learning supplies, benefiting students from financially weaker sections.

The initiative is part of Adani Foundation’s sustained efforts over the past more than a decade to strengthen rural education and ensure that financial constraints do not become a barrier to a child’s education. By providing essential school supplies, the programme seeks to reduce the financial burden on parents, encourage regular school attendance and motivate children to continue their education.
Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva, executive director & president, Adani Group, said, “Government Kannada Medium schools are the backbone of rural education in Karnataka. Thousands of children from economically weaker families depend on these schools to pursue their dreams. When we provide school kits, we are not merely providing notebooks or school bags; we are giving children confidence, dignity and the encouragement to remain in school and pursue their aspirations. This initiative, which we have been taking forward for more than a decade, has supported thousands of students and contributed to creating a stronger foundation for their educational journey."
He further said that education remains one of the key focus areas of Adani Foundation’s CSR interventions, with nearly 20% of its CSR budget dedicated to education-related programmes. These initiatives include school kit distribution, scholarships, educational infrastructure, support to meritorious students from underprivileged families and other interventions aimed at improving access to quality education. He also informed that in addition to education related activities, Adani Power Limited is undertaking various developmental works in the surrounding gram panchayats in community healthcare, infrastructure development, sustainable livelihoods and promotion of rural sports.
The school management committees, teachers and community representatives appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of providing essential learning materials to students, particularly in government and government-aided Kannada medium schools. They noted that such support helps ease the financial burden on families and creates a more equitable and encouraging environment for children to learn and grow.
