Mumbai, Sep 12: Cricket icon Virender Sehwag is set to make his OTT hosting debut with the second season of Rise and Fall, taking over from entrepreneur and former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover.
Amazon Prime Video and Amazon MX Player have unveiled the first promotional teaser for the upcoming season, featuring Sehwag's trademark candid humour against the backdrop of a high-stakes game involving strategy, alliances and shifting power dynamics.
In the promo, Sehwag appears in several humorous avatars, including Sir Isaac Newton, a doctor, a schoolteacher, a yellow-belt karate practitioner and Yamraj, before introducing the central concept of the show.
Drawing parallels with his cricket career, the former India opener describes the game as one that requires contestants to read situations and manage risks.
“Cricket has taught me one thing - no match is won before the final ball, and Rise and Fall Season 2 takes that unpredictability to another level,” Sehwag said in an official statement.
“As a host, what excites me about this game is that there are no easy wins and no fixed positions. The biggest challenge isn't just getting to the top but knowing how to stay there,” he added.
Based on the original UK format created by Studio Lambert and produced in India by Banijay Asia, Rise and Fall brings contestants together in a competition centred on power, strategy and financial prize money.
The first season was hosted by Ashneer Grover and gained attention for intense clashes among contestants over control of the prize fund and the shifting balance of power.
With Sehwag taking over as host, the makers are looking to bring his spontaneous, sports-oriented style of commentary to the show's psychological gameplay.
The official premiere date for Rise and Fall Season 2 is expected to be announced by the streaming platforms shortly.
