Chennai, Sep 26: Director R Kaarthikeyan's upcoming romantic action entertainer 'Anbil Avan', starring Ashok Selvan and Preity Mukhundhan in the lead roles, has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A certificate.
Production house Happy High Pictures announced the certification on social media and said the film is gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release on October 2.
The film was earlier scheduled to hit screens on September 25. The makers subsequently postponed the release by a week, citing the strong response to the trailer and promotional campaign and growing interest from distribution partners.
In a statement shared by Ashok Selvan on X, the producers thanked audiences for their response and said the additional week would allow them to plan a bigger and wider release across territories.
The makers said the film had been a labour of love for nearly two years and that the one-week delay would help them present it to audiences with the scale, reach and care they believed it deserved.
The film has generated interest since the release of its trailer, which offers glimpses of a relationship drama that takes a dark and action-packed turn.
In the trailer, Ashok Selvan's character introduces his wife Iyal, played by Preity Mukhundhan, to Revathy. He says Iyal comes from a wealthy family but gave up everything to be with him when he had nothing.
The couple are shown working at a star hotel, where they face constant supervision and taunts. Ashok Selvan's character later says he wants to give Iyal the life he had promised her.
After their marriage, the couple move to a hill station, where their lives take a dramatic turn following a disturbing incident that occurs while Iyal is alone at home.
The trailer introduces several mysterious characters who make cryptic remarks about the incident, while the couple are shown living in constant fear.
The story then shifts into action, with a police officer investigating the case and a series of intense sequences involving Ashok Selvan's character.
The incident also creates differences between the couple, leaving their relationship under strain. The film explores what happens to them after these developments.
'Anbil Avan' has been produced by K Karunamoorthy, Ashok Selvan and Abinaya Selvam, with music by Govind Vasantha.
Gowtham Rajendran is the cinematographer, while Selva RK has handled the editing. Stunt choreography is by Peter Hein and the art direction is by Manikandan Srinivasan.
The story has been written by Vignesh Raja, while the screenplay has been jointly penned by Vignesh Raja, R Kaarthikeyan and Ashok Selvan.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2.
