Bicholim, Oct 28: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday inaugurated the Energy4Good Technology Centre at Government Polytechnic, Bicholim, to bridge skill gaps and enhance the employability of technical students.
Established with the support of Siemens Energy India Limited (SEIL), the centre will provide hands-on training in industry-relevant technologies to up to 200 students annually.
The facility is one of three such centres established by Siemens in 2026, with the other two located in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Together, the three centres will have the capacity to train more than 600 students every year.

Sawant said the centre would provide students with practical exposure to modern industrial technologies, improve their employment prospects and strengthen technical education in Goa.
Guilherme Mendonca, managing director and CEO of Siemens Energy India, said the initiative aimed to develop industry-ready talent by strengthening technical competencies and building the long-term training capabilities of educational institutions.
The curriculum has been designed following consultations with industry representatives, academia and other stakeholders. It covers programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and drives, hydraulics and pneumatics, mechatronics, sensor technology, computer-aided design, and productivity and quality improvement methods.
Students will also receive training in workplace safety, environmental health and safety, and Microsoft Office applications, along with opportunities for industry exposure.
The programme will be implemented over three years and includes infrastructure development, curriculum delivery, faculty capacity-building and integration with regular academic programmes.
The phased approach is intended to enable participating institutions to develop the capacity to operate the centres independently over time.
