Panaji, Nov 2: The Union government has released an additional Rs 398 crore to Goa under the tax devolution mechanism, providing a financial boost to the State to accelerate infrastructure development and meet its development and welfare expenditure requirements.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the timely release of funds, stating that the additional financial support would strengthen the State government's efforts towards social welfare, infrastructure development and sustainable economic growth.

The Centre has released a total of Rs 1,09,019 crore to State governments as an additional instalment of tax devolution. According to the Union Ministry of Finance, the amount is over and above the regular monthly tax devolution and represents the second additional instalment released to States during the current financial year 2026-27.

The additional allocation is intended to provide State governments with greater financial flexibility to accelerate capital expenditure and meet development and welfare-related commitments.

The release ahead of the festive season is also expected to help States manage their expenditure requirements while maintaining the pace of ongoing infrastructure and development projects.

Goa's share of Rs 398 crore is expected to support the State government's development priorities and strengthen its capacity to undertake public infrastructure projects and welfare initiatives.
