Udupi, Nov 4: Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh distributed scholarships amounting to Rs 8 lac to 129 deserving students from Udupi district at a programme held at Pastoral Centre Anugraha on October 31.

The scholarship initiative was organised by Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh in association with the late Theresa Cornelio, Kemmannu, and MCC Bank, with the objective of supporting deserving students in pursuing their education.

Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh president Melwin Aranha presided over the programme. Community leader Veronica Cornelio inaugurated the event.

Fr Anil D'Souza, spiritual director of Catholic Sabha, Ani Lobo, chairman of MCC Bank, and Alwyn Quadros, AICU Karnataka State president, were present as guests of honour.

Convener Dr Gerald Pinto welcomed the gathering, while Catholic Sabha secretary Juliet D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh president-designate Louis D'Souza, committee member Vijay Dhiraj and treasurer Urban Lewis were also present.
