Udupi, Nov 4: A group of youths were involved in a late-night brawl in the middle of a busy road in Manipal, an educational and commercial hub, triggering concern among local residents.

The altercation reportedly began between two youths who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol. What started as a minor argument soon escalated into a physical fight, eventually involving two groups. The youths were seen assaulting each other in the middle of the road, creating panic among passers-by.

Interestingly, the incident reportedly occurred just a short distance from the Manipal police station, raising questions about late-night law and order in the area.

Residents have expressed concern over frequent altercations outside pubs and bars in Manipal. While police had earlier taken action against bars and restaurants operating beyond permitted hours, allegations are now emerging that alcohol consumption is being allowed until late at night.

Incidents that were once confined to the premises of bars, pubs and restaurants are now spilling onto public roads, adding to residents’ concerns.

Videos of the brawl have gone viral on social media. The public has urged the police to take strict action against such incidents and strengthen late-night patrolling to ensure safety and maintain law and order in Manipal.
