Kuwait, Apr 14:
Popular young Konkani singer and composer Kevin Misquith and ace guitarist Rajgopal on Friday April 13 entertained the Kuwait Mangalorean audience like never before. Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) a leading Mangalorean association in Kuwait held its mega event 'Korodancho Sombhram 2012' on Friday April 13 at the American International School, Maidan Hawalli, Kuwait from 5  pm onwards under the leadership of president Steven Machado. The event was special for the organization as it has reached Rs 2 crores to the needy with support from sponsors, members and well-wishers.

Kuwait Canara Welfare Association, formed in 1988 by Francis Misquith, Johny Misquith, Charles Vas and Elias Saldanha with a core aim of charity has now grown into a well-established group of more than 1000 registered expatriate members in Kuwait. KCWA has completed 24 glorious years of community service and achieved a great milestone this year of crossing over Rs 2 crores in generous charity to the needy children in pursuit of their education, regardless of religion, caste and creed. KCWA has also contributed generously towards other humanitarian causes in India and Kuwait.

Kevin Misquith and Rajgopal came from India specially to perform on this occasion for the first time in Kuwait. The programme commenced with title song of the day by Rony, Cynthia, Joyline, Jovita, Rudy, Allen, Marcus and Chorus followed by formal welcome by comperes of the day Lancy Rodrigues and Lydia Misquith.

Allan Pinto, Gladys Lorena and Joyline Gonsalves too joined Kevin Misquit to share the melody.

Kevin and his band has been creating ripples across the Konkani music world with their robust on-stage performances and passionate singing, and this has won them a dedicated band of followers and admirers in Konkani music. Kevin Misquith and the band “Milestone”, has certainly come a long way within a short period, to find a strong foothold in Konkani music world with their peppy music, which is full of life. Innovation has been the keystone of Kevin Misquith shows, which has succeeded in establishing a niche in the competitive contemporary Konkani music world by being ‘different’. Being the only Konkani singer/composer to have successfully presented almost 23 consecutive music concerts within a very short span of last two years across Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Goa now was now succeeded to rock Kuwait with his performances. This was his first show abroad.

Visiting Artiste Rajgopal rocked the show with his songs ‘Chammak Challo’ , ‘Why this Kolaveri Di’ and ‘Oh la la’ along with Stephen Machado, Anil Menezes, Kiran Lobo and Joyline Gonsalves. The fusion instrumental by him along with local musicians Kiran Gonsalves, Jackson D’Souza, Sunith Noronha, Roney Rodrigues and Joy Fernandes was the hit of the day which got ‘Once More’ demand from the audience.

Kevin Misquith’s CD ‘Thembe Thembe’ was released by Konkany’s golden voice Roney D’Cunha along with KCWA President Stephen Machado.

Artistes and sponsors were honored with momentoes by Chief guest Visiting priest Fr Franklin D’Souza- All India Youth Director, Fr Noel Almeida and Fr Blany Pinto. Well nown personaloity Lawrence D’Souza of Caesars Group of companies was felicitated with traditional cap, shawl, momento and tittled as ‘Kuwait Canara Jeevan Dathar’ in recognition of his philanthropic contribution to society. Felix D’Souza of Al Rathath Est was felicitated with traditional cap, shawl, momento and tittled as ‘Kuwait Canara Kalakaranxo for his continuouis support towards the realization of ‘Don Korodanxo Sombhrom-2012. Inspired by the development of KCWA Francis Shiroor handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lac on his personal behalf in order to encourage KCWA to continue their good work, so that another 'Korod' could be achieved soon. President Steven Machado, in his address thanked all for their continued support and encouragement. Founder of KCWA Francis Misquith’s wife Leena Misquith was honored with flower bouquets.

Along with visiting artistes, local artistes too succeeded to gain audiences applause for their songs. ‘Kenna Kenna’ by Konkani’s Golden voice Rony D'cunha, ‘Hey O Hey O’ by Joyline Gonsalves, ‘Neele Neele’ by Orson D'souza, ‘Kaisi Peheli Zindagani’ by Jovita Fernandes & Chorus, ‘Jaane Jaa’ by Lancy Rodrigues & Gladys Lorena,’ Yeah Dosti’ by Allen Pinto & Marcus D'Almeida, ‘Tanuvu Manavu’ by Lancy Rodrigues & Joyline Gonsalves were the hits of the day.

Rib tickling jokes Konknno, Dr Pinto, Vigarachi Ghant, Teacher, Madringelo Dukor, Sairikexo Mhalo were enacted by Kuwait’s Comedy king Stephen Machado along with Rinna D'souza, Lancy Rodrigues, Anil Menezes, Renny Menezes, Agnel, Nitin, Rudy D'souza, Ailine, Stephen, Celine Machado, Ansel, Cynthia Pinto and Lucy. Lydia, don't consider some of comments are as negative comments.
    They are for KCWA improvements.
Remember audince have paid 2 KD for entry pass including me. So they possess every right to comment .
Even though some commentators were tough in commenting, they have expressed hapiness over kcwa achievements and blesses for their mission for Eg.comment by Vincy, Anitha,Allen.

One need not bounce back from the good work. We are with good mision of KCWA.

Even i too suggest for future events Mc should be professional, and more over jokes should not put our prirsts and nuns in shame who are having valuable respect in our community. I suggest kcwa to apologize the priests and nuns who were present for the event and viewed all the jokes with patience.

Congratulations KCWA for your wonderful Program. Everything was good from the start to end. I really enjoyed throughly. In my opinion the jokes were clean and had some good message about Priests and Nuns where it was appreciated by all in the auditorium by appluding and never said or heard against Priests or nuns then why few people have different opinion. Any how its a opinion and the Judgement.

Congratulations to KCWA & team for organising such a big 2 crore sombrom. it was possible only by their unity & hardwork. Surely this is the result of Gods grace and wishes and prayers from the unknown poor children and beneficiaries of education from the undivided south canara region.
Also advise you not to include jokes relating to preist & nuns when they are invited, which is very bad in the name of KCWA. We can not comment on MC, because they are helping their best by conducting the programme free of cost. Thanks to all artists for performing well for doing good job.
for any programme time should be limited for 3-4 hours by deleting the dances & jokes.

Congratulations KCWA President and committee members for this achievement. Program was good but too long.
    @ Collin,
Just to tell you, don’t comment on others comments. This is their thinking (also can take as suggestions). As per Vincy he is right from his side. And don’t tell anything tough, there are so many members in KCWA have good talents and they can perform very well if they get opportunity (free of cost).
All the best for the mission of helping poor students of our community. God bless KCWA.

Hi Vincy D'Silva, allipade & Allen, Kuwait.

FYI, think twice before commenting on others(MC).Speaking in mouth is easy, but doing on the stage is very tough. If you have guts do perform on stage next time. Professional MC's wont do free of cost for all the big events.Non professional MC's are doing with the free of cost helping for the good cause.

Congratulations KCWA President and committee members for this achievement.
Stage programme was too long and boring, difficult to sit with small children such a long time.
Both MC’s were not so good, jokes were time consuming. Facilitation was too long more than 1-1/2 hr.
Next time don’t keep your programme more than 3 hrs, make it short and sweet… God Bless and Long Live KCWA

Wonderful efforts by KCWA to organise such a event to mark the celebration of Don Korodoncho Kurov.
Dance, songs were excellent. However jokes were fully non veg type. Humble request with KCWA not incude jokes which makes mockery of our nuns and priests.
Kindly note that priests and nuns havce good respect in our catholic society. Let us not use them in our jokes and skits to demoralise. Some of actors were not facing the audience while dialogue delivery.
Stage programme was too much long.
Master of Ceremony without professionalims for such a big event was boaring.
Crry on your mission of helping poor students of our community. God bless KCWA.
