Mangalore: Two Arrested After Rama Sene Activists Stop Vehicle Transporting Beef

Mangalore, Jun 3: Activists of Sri Rama Sene on Sunday June 3 allegedly stopped a vehicle said to be transporting beef illegally from Manur near Neermarga to the city.
Acting on prior information, around 10-15 Sri Rama Sene activists followed the Tata Ace vehicle from Padu in Neermarga and forcibly stopped it near Manur by throwing stones at the windshield. They were said to be armed with swords and other weapons.
There were three people including the driver inside the vehicle, identified as Hussain Baikampady, Abdul Kunhi Uppala and driver Umar Jokatte.
The three were allegedly transporting 75 kg of beef hidden among piles of jackfruits.
While Hussain and Abdul Kunhi were arrested by the Mangalore rural police, Umar managed to escape. Their vehicle and the beef were also seized.
It is said that the trio were bringing beef from a house belonging to a certain Hussainar.
A case has been registered in Mangalore rural police station.
