Singer Anupam Roy Not Dreaming Bollywood

Kolkata, June 20 (IBNS): Singer Anupam Roy said he does not like to work under pressure and is not dreaming of Bollywood.

The singer-cum-lyricist said this on Tuesday at the unveiling of The George Telegraph Training Institute’s first ever theme song “Jibon Gorar Gaan” in Kolkata, which has been sung by Anupam himself.

“I don’t believe in producing song after song. Around 10 songs a year is fine. If people are expecting too much from me then it’s a problem because that will keep me under pressure,” said Anupam.

“And I don’t like working under pressure. I believe in quality and selective work,” he said.

When asked if he is dreaming to make his mark in B-town as well, Anupam said: “I am not running after Bollywood. In fact in my early days I was not that exposed to Hindi songs. I was more into Bengali songs.”

Commenting on the theme song, he said: “This is the first time in my career that I have sung a song for any institute. I wanted to motivate the youngsters to come up and join the institute and nourish their talents.”

“Apart from the exceptional ones, there are some talents that need to be explored and guided so that they can bring out their creativity to the right direction. And I believe George Telegraph is providing that opportunity.”

Talking about the lyrics written by him, he said: “The lyrics are written in a way that will enlighten the youngsters.”

At the occasion, George Telegraph also announced their association with the Future Sharp Skills Ltd.

Future Sharp Skills Ltd is a joint venture company between Future Group and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) that aims at creating industry ready professionals by providing knowledge and skills.

This initiative has been undertaken to provide vocational courses in the field of Retail, Hospitality and Automobile Engineering.

Goutam Roy, COO, Future Sharp Skills Ltd. said: “Future Sharp Skills Ltd has aggressive plans to train and skill half a million people in West Bengal in next 10 years.
