New Delhi, Jun 28 (IBNS): A Delhi court on wednesday denied the custody of arrested key plotter of 2008 Mumbai attacks Abu Jindal to the Mumbai Police.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police is currently interrogating Jindal.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Vinod Yadav said as the Special Cell of Delhi Police is currently investigating Jindal in 'full swing', and hence it would not be appropriate to reduce his police custody and hand him over to the Mumbai Police.

The Mumbai Police immediately made a fresh application to the court for Jindal's custody after the hearing on Wednesday.

The court will hear the matter on July 5.

The Delhi Police had opposed the application of the Mumbai Police and said Jindal will be in their custody till July 5 .

The Delhi Police said it was impossible to handover Jindal to the Mumbai Police at present as the investigation in the matter is currently in progress.

Sayeed Zabiuddin Ansari, also known as Abu Hamza and Abu Jindal, who has confessed to being among the six men tasked with guiding the ten Pakistani terrorists during the three-day-attack on Mumbai, was arrested at Delhi airport on June 21 on his arrival from Saudi Arabia.

The 2008 strike in Mumbai killed 166 people and wounded more than 300.
