Kundapur, Jul 2: In a tragic incident, a young woman and three children drowned in a large water tank situated at Hattiangadi gram panchayat in Kundapur on Sunday July 1 in the evening.

The deceased have been identified as Nayana (20), Naveen (13), Pavan (11), Pavithra (16). They belonged to labour class families. On Sunday evening, some of the residents noticed the group, making their way towards the tank but did not bother as they assumed that the children knew the ponds depth.

On Sunday evening, these children who belonged to labourers went for a swim and passed along the path that lead to tank, said locals. They thought that these kids might know the depth of the tank, so did not bother.

The kids did not return home until dark. Noticing this, the people rushed to the tank and found the  children's footwear which made the scene clear. While searching they found Nayana’s body first. The fire brigade arrived at the spot and with the help of the local people and they found the other bodies.

Sources said that Naveen and Pavan were studying in Kudlu higher primary school and Pavithra at the Kundapur government college.

I totally agree with Nagesh Nayak.
We should have on the school children curriculum the following:
    1. Basic first aid, including how to carry out CPR for heart attack, burn victim, resuscitation, wounds Heimlich Maneuver and fractures.Teach the young.
    2. The danger of going for a swim when they do not know how to do so.
    3. Young girls must be taught self defense, and given sex education.
The parents are responsible for their children and not the school, Most of the parents leave everything to the school authorities - this is wrong.
Have a nice day all of you

Safety instructions missing. Even after accidents there won't be safety measures as some people assume and many assume many things. Whoever built tank should be held accountable.

There are few things we need to learn from this : If someone is having a deep well, build bouondry wall. Place also safety intructions - dept of the well in meters or ft Not kidding...
