Mangalore, Jul 29: In a fresh twist to the incident relating to attack on boys and girls at Morning Mist Home Stay resort at Padil on Saturday July 28, the Hindu Janajagarana Vedike (HJV) on Sunday Jul 29 denied any involvement in the assault.

Refusing to take responsibility for the incident, convener of HJV Jagadish Karanth told reporters at a press meet at Hotel Woodlands here that the name of HJV was unnecesarily dragged into the issue.

"The assaulters were not wearing any headband or carrying any banner claiming allegiance to HJV, hence they cannot be branded as members of the Vedike," he said.

He further pointed out, "There were hundreds of women standing outside the resort supporting the activists, but the HJV has no women's wing."

He chose to shift the blame on Padil residents and said that it was they who carried out the attack. Subhash Padil, a member of HJV, was present not as an activist of the Vedike, but as a resident of Padil, he clarified.

He came down heavily on the sex mafia in the city and said that the residents of Padil were irked with activities in the resort which he called a 'prostitution centre'.

"There is a sex tourism racket behind the incident, which was prevalent in countries like Thailand before. Those who have money and want to enjoy come to Mangalore. The district administration should take measures to eliminate such practices," he said, adding that even though are so many police stations and resources to handle crime, the police are silent on such issues.

"Innocent and poor girls are pushed into prostitution. This has to be stopped," he said, urging the government and the police system to keep a check on spas, resorts, pubs and home stays.

On the current issue, he said, "No girl involved in the resort incident has come forward to file a complaint. This alone shows who is right who is wrong."

"In the name of home stay, the owner of Morning Mist was encouraging prostitution and should be booked, and the administration should take stringent action against him," he said, adding, "A girl is not an object to be sold for a price. We will not tolerate it at any cost."

"Instead of keeping a check on illegal activities, everyone is putting the blame on HJV," he added.

"Henceforth, HJV will keep a watchful eye on pubs, live bands and resorts," he declared, promising to bring the issue to a 'logical end'.

He also called for a rule wherein those who stay at resorts should compulsorily produce photo identity cards. CCTVs should also be installed in resorts, he added.

To a query, he said that HJV had given written complaints about such incidents to the government several times, but to no avail.

HJV members Kishore, Shashikiran, Dhananjay and Vasudeva Gowda were present.

These men despite their religious affliation should be interrogated throughly without political interference and an enquiry should be done so as to make sure who sent them and what was their intenions ,they may be remanded to judicial custody and the law must me expedited in a speedy manner an example may be made of these men to show the general public that these self styled vigalantes will not be tolerated and crimes against women will be delt with harshly ,a public trial would be welcome when all arrests have been made ,the residents of Padil seemed to have been encouraging these men the video footage of the whole incident can help nabbing these fellows how much easier can this get' even my Grand Mother can catch these culprits the Police should redeem their lost prestige as they seem now like Eunuchs just watching the whole thing without calling for help and taking proper action. What we need is a good and efficient SP Police comissioner like we had in the early Nineties,

I pray that Mangalore returns to its previous glory a city where people of all caste creed and religions or sex live peacefully and that our Mother ,Sisters and daughters are free to go about Mangalore without fear from being harrassed by Goondas

    Dear Readers,
This man so called leader of HJV seem to be a confused man. In the begining he is claiming that his group not involved in the attack and later he is claiming the girls are at fault. If he really respect women then let his men go and bash the residents of Padil for treating the girls so badly..Do u have b.... then prove it and give justice to those girls.. I hate you man and shame to call 'Oordaar'

I think these self righteous "saints" like Karanth need some lessons in Indian culture and Indian Constitution. If he expresses contempt for the Indian Constitution and how the Right to Freedom is defined in it, he is a criminal and should be locked up.
One thing is sure. He is an eunuch/chakka. His backtracking and Pontius Pilate act of washing his hands off the culprits proves that. A pussy trying to act like a lion but only "meow" is coming out from his mouth. Sick! Should vomit on this fellow.

See this spineless cur of that vedike!! when the going becomes tough these curs deny their hand in it. That is the Hindu culture, I guess.

Here they have a unexpected problem - one of the girl was a daughter of a police officer, it was said.
So police this time will not leave these curs so easily.

I wish it was one of the State minister's daughter or wife. Minister should find out only after all that had happened and We could have seen the real drama. Condemning all these organisations and taking severe action against them. It has to happen to them - then things will become better.

This Govt. does not care, as they are involved in all these untoward happenings for their benefit.
I hope The movement for PIL will be successful and those arrested even if they claim are not of HJV should be punished severely.

If HJV and other similar group want talabisation, then they should be subjected to same rule and should be beheaded.

Once it revealed that majority of the people against them, they changed their tune, similar to their brothers BD, Sangh, RS. Its obvious that every time whenever these groups indulge in goondaism and anti social activities, their directors pose immediately next day for a press meet to prove their goons are innocent. They are better to be called eunuchs, can’t accept the truth. Strict law should be implemented in order to curb all these anti social groups. Police and judiciary system should be cleaned first from these elements to put them in. Its enough in Mangalore, People should get together create awareness and danger of this nuisance in future and put pressure on government to root out these groups from the soil permanently. Jai Hind

Today morning, the activists of HJV protested for arresting 8 people who are HJV members & to release them. By evening HJV changed its mind & now they say that the culprits are not belonging to HJV, that is after ADGP's press meet & wide spread protests across Karnataka. The ADGP gave clean chit to the college students who were partying. Shame! Shame! HJV.

"Innocent and poor girls are pushed into prostitution. This has to be stopped,".....You said correct Mr. Jagadish Karnth...then you and these Padil residents go to Mumbai and Bring all the Tulu speaking girls who were pushed into prostitution. You may be able to find the person who pushed them into prostitution...!!?? Prostitution may be there in Mangalore...and it is not limited to pubs and resort party's....Go and raid all the Hotels in Magalore and you can find prostitutes and do not try to molest young girls in the name of prostitution....your guys were holding girls as if they have not seen a lady in their life at all...!!!!???
