Mangalore: ‘Parents must Encourage and Train Children towards Success’

Mangalore, Aug 3: PTA annual general body meeting was held at the Lourdes central school on July 31.The second session (Class VI to XII) of the annual general body meeting began at 11 am with a prayer song, sung by the staff.

Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, principal welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person Manoj Lewis (MCom, MBA) an eminent professor at government first grade college, Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada. His vast experience in the teaching field as well as in career guidance has earned him name and fame amongst the educational community.

Lewis in his talk stressed the need that the students should choose their professional field according to their interests. Parents today should spend quality time with their children and also allow them space to grow independently, but care should be taken not to give them too much freedom and draw the line whenever necessary. While disciplining the child he said that every family has different ways and means towards discipline but here too one must adopt the most effective way and learn from other successful parents who have children  of the same age, who have trained their children well. He stressed that parents should follow the acronym ADA (A for Awareness of everything in life, D for taking decisions in life and A for action plan towards fulfilling these decisions).

The manager, Dr Victor Machado spoke about the achievements during the last year and applauded the 100 percent results of class X and XII. He replied to the suggestions and queries put forth by the parents.

The principal Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves also replied to the queries of the parents and assured them that all of them would be taken care of.
Later the PTEC representatives were elected from classes VI to XII section wise for the year 2012-13.

Vidya Joseph compered the programme and Rekha Naveen proposed the vote of thanks.
