Melbourne, Oct 12: The Melbourne Konkan Community (MKC) proudly hosted its first-ever Konkani concert in Melbourne on Sunday, October 11, bringing together almost 250 attendees for a memorable evening celebrating music, culture, and community.
The much-anticipated event featured renowned Konkani singer Prajoth D'Sa, who captivated the audience with a journey through some of his most loved songs. From timeless Konkani favourites such as ‘Sobhai Tuji’, ‘Baiyamma’, and ‘Mog Tuzo’ to popular renditions of classics including ‘Pehla Nasha’ and ‘Neele Neele Ambar’, the evening was filled with nostalgia, emotion, and applause. Audience members sang along, danced, and relived cherished memories as Prajoth showcased his remarkable versatility and stage presence.

In line with MKC's commitment to promoting local talent, the concert opened with performances by talented community artists Aaliyah & Josh and Jess & Jass, providing emerging performers with the opportunity to showcase their talents on a major stage.
Backing Prajoth was a stellar live band comprising:
• Clyde D'Silva on Drums
• Melroy Furtado on Bass Guitar
• Maclean D'Souza on Keyboards
• Linton Pereira on Lead Guitar
Adding further excitement to the evening were special guest vocalists Priya Andrade Sarah Fernandes and Velisha D’Cruz, whose performances alongside Prajoth illuminated the stage and delighted the audience.
The event was far more than a concert. It was a celebration of Mangalurean culture and community spirit in Australia. Guests embraced the opportunity to reconnect with their roots while creating new memories with family and friends. One of the unexpected stars of the evening was the traditional toddy, which proved to be a crowd favourite, with guests enthusiastically enjoying a few rounds throughout the event.
"This event reflects what MKC stands for," said the committee. "Promoting our culture, supporting talent within our community, and creating opportunities for people to come together while embracing our new lives in Australia."
The Melbourne Konkan Community extended its heartfelt gratitude to Prajoth D'Sa and his entire team for delivering a truly outstanding performance. Organising an event of this scale requires countless hours of planning, coordination, and dedication, and the success of the concert is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.
MKC also sincerely thanked its committee members, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters whose contributions helped make the event possible.
MKC thanked every person who attended and supported the concert. The overwhelming response and strong community turnout have inspired the committee to continue bringing more cultural, musical, and community-focused events to Melbourne in the future.
The success of this inaugural concert has demonstrated that the Konkani community in Melbourne has a strong appetite for quality cultural events, and MKC looks forward to building on this momentum for many years to come.
