Kasargod: Six Nabbed for Illegal Timber Transport

Kasargod, Aug 6:
Forest guards arrested six persons, while illegally transporting timber logs from the reserve forest and seized one pickup truck and two motorcycles, here on Sunday August 5.
 
The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Sadiq (20), a native of Pallattoor, Jabir (21), a native of Pallangod,  Shohaib (28), Sridar (36), a native of Mallampare and  Ilyas (32).


                


The accused had felled five large trees in the reserve forest at Adoor – Chennakundu on July 29.  The trees were being transported to a sow-mill and converted to various sizes of timber logs that were seized from the household of Ilyas and Sridar and other sizes stored in Kodyamme.
 
Parappa section forester S N Rajesh, Bandadka forester Shaji Joseph, Kasargod special deputy forester B V Rajgopal, forest watchers P Sukumaran, Pradeep Kumar, Gopalan, Sajish and others were involved in this operation.
