Mangalore, Aug 8: With the aim of ‘’Understanding the past and planning the future’’ Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, obstetrics and gynecological department organized the ‘’Breastfeeding Week’’on August 7 at 10 am.

Chief Guest present for the function was Dr Kavita Dsouza, professor in obstetrics and gynecological department AJIMS Mangalore, Other dignitaries present were Ashritha Shetty director LMET and Dr Larissa Martha Sams, principal LMCN.

The function was inaugurated by lighting the lamp followed by unveiling the theme by Sandhya Almeida HOD, obstetrics and gynecological department LMCN. Dr Kavitha Dsouza spoke regarding awareness on breastfeeding required in the community area.

Dr Larrissa Martha Sams in her talk appreciated the work of anganwadi workers. Ashritha Shetty encouraged the anganwadi workers to continue their service in the field. After the inaugural programme questionnaires were distributed to anganwadi workers.

At 11am Dr Poornima J, senior specialist, obstetrics and gynaecological department, government Lady Goshen Hospital Mangalore, held the scientific session on the theme. A total of 30 aganwadi workers were present for the function.

The programme came to an end at 12.30pm. Maria Deepthi Sequeria welcomed the gathering. Leena Dsouza delivered the vote of thanks and the entire programme was compared by Divya Veigas, assistant lecturer LMCN.
