Udupi: District Taximens’s Association Annual Meeting Held in City

Udupi, Aug 8: The 41st annual meeting of the District Taximen’s Association was held at Laxmi auditorium here on Tuesday August 7.

K Raghupathi Bhat, MLA and president of the District Taximen’s Association presided over the meeting.

He stated that the current life tax for tourist vehicles worth below Rs 15 lac will be excluded. The drivers of the twin districts should benefit from the Vima and Pinchani policy, which includes benefit of Rs 2 lac in case of death, Rs 35,000 for normal death, Rs 1 lac for handicaps and many others which can be obtained, he said.

In the meeting, people condemned the issue of vehicles which carry school children above the limit, for which Raghupathi Bhat gave a positive response and the account details were put forward by Vikram Rao, treasurer.

Monappa Bhandari, president of Dakshinna Kannada Taximen’s Association inaugurated the session and assured that along with Raghupathi Bhat will strive hard for the betterment of the association.

GR Shanmugappa, president of Karnataka State Lorry Owners association, KP Shenoy and KG Ravindra were the chief guests.

SI Pramod Kumar P from Karkal was honoured on the occassion.

Ramesh Kotian, chief secretary welcomed and Prabhakar Kotian Katapadi compered.

Pramod Kulal, Sathish Bhat among many others were present.
