Udupi: Table Tennis Tournament to Begin on Aug 11

Udupi, Aug 10:
  A press meet was conducted by the Shine Table Tennis Academy and Silk Hina Center owner Sheffy Ahamed to announce a few tournaments to be held in the next few days.

Shine Table Tennis Academy, has organized a tournament at Udupi Indoor Stadium, Ajarakkad on August 11 and 12. The programme will be inaugurated by Ragupathy Bhat, MLA, Udupi and Vilas Nayak (BJP Yuva Morcha's district unit, led by its president).  The events are categorised as cadets, sub- juniors, men/ women, open doubles, mixed doubles and team events.

Hajji Usman Sahib, father of Sheffy Ahamed, had a great intention to give importance to sports, table tennis in particular. He had given up his own place for this purpose, and also hired a coach, Satheesh from Chennai

Under his guidance, Mizbha S A, Rajath, Abhishek and Faran Iqbal state level champions, were trained for the nation.

Mizbha S A is a two time national champion and gold model winner from Mizoram, and is the present coach at Shine. They also have a branch at Belgaum. The organization has generated state level players and after that they have been provided with formal training at famous academies like SAIL and BNM.

On August 11, the kid’s events will be exhibited. On this day Yashpal Suvarna (president of DK and Udupi Fish Federation) and Udhay Kumar Shetty (BPJ Zilla Presidient) will be the guests.

On August 12, Pramodh Madhwaraj (Industrialist) and Syndicate Bank regional officer Puroshotham Shetty will be the guests of honor.

The Shine Table Tennis Academy members Dr Vijendra Vasanth (President), Sheffy Ahamed (Vice President) Sadashiva Shetty (secretary) were present at the press meet.
