New York, Aug 11 (IANS): Singer Marc Anthony hosted a fundraiser event in New York for an orphanage.

The 43-year-old hosted the event for Maestro Cares Foundation, which supports a project for underprivileged Latin American children.

Anthony hopes to raise enough money to open a new residence hall and learning facility for more than 200 youngsters living in the orphanage, reports contactmusic.com.

The event was held at Big Apple's Latino cultural institution EL Museo del Barrio.

Anthony later showed gratitude towards everyone who turned up at the event. He wrote on Twitter: "Thank you everyone who showed their support at El Museo del Barrio for MaestroCares. You make all the difference."
