Udupi, Aug 11: The people residing along rivulets across the district, in Udyavar, Matadakudru, Katpady, Manipur, Shirva, Pangala and nearby villages are facing the threat of ravaging floods owing to continuous rainfall during the last couple of days.

The authorities of education institutions declared a holiday here on Friday August 10 due to difficulties in infrastructure.  A few villages are marooned because of floods, a usual sight during monsoons.

The access road of Alady in Pangala is cut off as a result of floods. The Padubelle and Moodubelle roads have also been flooded.

Twenty-one houses have been inundated in Matadakudru, Udyavar, where this situation has become a common phenomena during the monsoons.
