Kasargod, Sep 13: The gas tankers and the lorries carrying gas cylinders have gone on strike as the authorities have enforced strict rules and regulations following the blast of the gas tanker which recently took place in Chala, Kannur.

The officials warned that the movement of the lorries will not be permitted if it does not have two drivers and a cleaner. But it is possible to provide only one driver and a cleaner. The lorries found to be moving violating these rules are being stopped by the locals in Chala. As a result the supply of domestic gas in Kerala has been badly affected.

The lorries and tankers have been stopped on the sides of the roads in Talapady and Kalikkadavi, Kasargod. With more than 100 lorries parked on the sides the roads the chances of accidents along these roads are increasing. Shortage of domestic gas is faced in the district.
