Puttur, Jan 5: The elephant which vented its anger and created havoc on Tuesday January 1, and which even killed mahout Chandra on Wednesday night ,was finally sent to Kantapur Elephant Camp near Mysore on Friday January 4.

On Friday, three elephants - Abhimanyu, Harsha and Vikram were called from the camp. With their help, the forest officials were successful in tying up Laxmisha.

An interesting battle ensued as Abhimanyu, using his power all alone, pushed elephant Laxmisha inside the cage which was placed in the lorry.

Initially, when Abhimanyu tried to push Laxmisha, the latter tried to escape. But as Abhimanyu had experience of battling with more than 200 elephants, Laxmisha was overpowered.

The three elephants which were called from the camp were also taken in separate lorries. The entire process took place with the help of Nagarahole veterinary doctor Uma Shankar, Abhimanyu's mahout Vasanth and with the help of other mahouts.

Laxmisha's mahout Varadraj was seen weeping while his elephant was put in the cage. He also pleaded the forest officials not to harm the elephant.

The total cost of the operation was Rs 5 lac, said the forest officials. The entire sum will be collected from the elephant's owner, they said.

Big fan of this animal and its capabilities. Elephants were (unfortunately in some parts of world even today) the workforce for many ages. Agree with Hans Udupi that it's time to let them live their normal life just as we humans are more and more relying on machines rather than humans. The benifit of technology in everyday life should also be passed on to these beautiful creature of God. No solution for few mahouts (out of a billion population in India) losing their jobs if the above becomes reality though. Sadly, with Rs. 5 Lakh to forest officials the whole episode will be behind us and some people will continue to use elephants as labor.

it is not the fault of the poor elephant but the fault of people who have subjected that poor animal to such brutality.we have deprived that animal of its natural habitat, not allowed it to mate, kept it alone hence making it mad. we people are responsible for its current state. we shouldn't blame the animal but should blame ourselves

It is better to keep Ice Bags on back of the Elephant Laxmisha always. Then only one can control Killer Laxmisha.

The credit should go to the mahouts who control the uncertain behaviour of these beasts
