Kadri Gopalnath deserves this and better late than never and I am sure MU did not have to try hard to come to this decision. MU should have conferred this honor onto KG long ago. Kadri Gopalnath today is among the few greats in Carnatic Music and does Mangalore and Karnataka proud. Incidentally I cannot figure out any alternative to him or anywhere close to his "sadhane" in Karantaka in this art.

I have seen Sri Kadri Gopalnath a great exponent of Sexophone plying the instrument in 70s inside Sree Durga Parameshwari temple yard sitting on a simple mat at time of his beginning in this field. He is an ardent devotee of the temple too.Kadri Gopalnath has been blesssed by holy mother Sree Durga who is truely regarded as an Saxophone emperor. He deserved to be nominated for at least "Padmasree"award next time. All the best to the son of Tulunaadu...pride of Kudla.
