Kundapur: Robbers tie up woman, get away with gold in broad daylight

Kundapur, Feb 28: A woman, who was alone at home, was robbed by two unknown people in broad daylight on Thursday February 28.

Amritha Shetty, wife of Prakash Chandra Shetty employed in Vijaya Bank, Kundapur branch, was the victim and the incident occurred around 12.30 pm.

It is said that two unknown people came to give marriage invitation and as they said they were from Gulvadi, they insisted that Amritha open the door. As soon as she did so, the men tied her hands and put a cloth her mouth.

Four bangles of five sovereigns and one ‘Mangalsutra’ of three sovereigns, altogether worth Rs 1.8 lac were taken away.

After the robbers left, Amritha managed to untie herself and called her husband who was at work. Prakash called the Kundapur police station and Amritha was immediately taken for treatment at the Government Hospital. She filed a complaint in the Kundapur police station.

Crime sub-inspector Revathi and investigation team arrived at the spot and an investigation is on.

Neighbours have claimed that two men had been circling the area since 7 am. One man was said to be wearing a blue t-shirt and aged around 25 years while the other was wearing a red shirt and was aged around 20 years. It is said they were speaking English and Kannada.
