Mangalore: Media persons take a 'shot' at beach cricket

Mangalore, Mar 12: Media persons from various TV channels, newspapers, and websites took some time off from their busy schedules for a beach cricket tournament held at Panambur on Sunday March 10.

The cricket match organized by Media Friends was sponsored by Property Infratech Private Limited.

The two teams - Media Friends led by Rajesh from TV9 and Team Jogi led by Dayanand Kukkaje from Daijiworld played three league matches with the former winning two games and emerging overall winners.

The first prize consisted of a trophy and Rs 11,000 in cash to which Srikar Prabhu added an additional sum of Rs 5,000 making it a total of Rs 16,000 while the second prize consisted of trophy and Rs 6,000 in cash. The prizes were distributed by chief guest Rohan Monteiro, MD of Property Infratech Private Limited.

As the match took place on a public holiday, the rare event was witnessed by thousands of tourists who enjoyed the game and cheered the two teams. Journalists from various media organizations spent some good time playing and participating enthusiastically in the matches.

Anand, associate vice-president of ‘Udayavani’, Cheluvaraj, Panambur circle inspector, Mallikarjuna from RTO, and Yathish Baikampady, CEO of Panambur Beach Development Authority, were among those present.
