Mumbai: Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha convenes special meeting

Mumbai, Mar 15: The Kannada Working Journalists’ Association Maharashtra organized its general body meeting recently at Samarasa Bhavana, Matunga East, in the presidential presence of Chandrashekar Paalthadi.  

A special meeting was organized in the presence of M B Kukkiyan, honorary editor, ‘Akshay’ monthly with advocate Vasantha Kalakoti as the honorary guest. The meeting agreed to build a Kannadiga Patrakarthara Bhavana (media office), promote Arogya Nidhi health fund, to respond to the grievances of working Kannada journalists in Maharashtra, to hold press meets by Kannada organizations, ministers, VIPs, and to provide accommodation facilities to those who come to the city.

“It was taking decades to provide for own land for Tulu Kannada organizations when I came to Mumbai, hence it is really appreciable that this journalists’ association has within five years planned to construct a building,” said Kukkiyan.

Advocate Kalakoti assured of his wholehearted support to the project.

Honorary treasurer J P Kusuma, K N Suresh, Savitha S Shetty, Babu K Belchada, executive members of the committee, sports committee working president Jaya C Poojary, and Sham M Hande were present on the dais on this occasion.

Paalthadi said, “It is essential for Kannada journalists to have a media office in Mumbai. Through this media office, Kannada journalism will be strengthened and it will also be a boon to Tulu Kannada organizations. I hope that with help of donors surely the dream of the media office will be fullfilled.”

CA I R Shetty give appropriate suggestions about media office and health fund while vice-president Kallige Dayasagar Chouta spoke about the guidance of Ullooru Guthu Shanker M Shetty, Kadandale Parari  Prakash L Shetty, Dr R K Shetty, and Padmanabha K Poojary. Builder Gregory L D’Almeida and said Kannadigas have shown their talent in every part of Maharashtra and the journalists are no less.

Honorary chief secretary Rons Bantwal presented the keynote address. On this occasion, the deaths of Shedde Surendra Malli, veteran journalist Vijaya Sarathi, and Sanath Kumar Rao, Moodbidri, were condoled. Harish K Hejamady scrutinized the papers related to the land.

Nithyananda D Kotian, Naveen K Inna,  and Janardhan S Puriya were present on this occasion. Joint secretary Premnath B Shetty Mundkoor thanked.
