In his address, Suresh S M said that the key role of technical department is to shape the future and students as well.

“The new inventions in the field of technology have helped in the overall development of oneself and the world. The high speed internet and various modern gadgets have helped in bringing the world much closer. Technical devices make life much easier and faster and help in building a wide network of people and further strengthening it. But its not only positive, there are many negative aspects hidden in the advancement of technology too,” he said.

The increasing addiction to social networking sites, social media and online access has led to many problems around the world. Modern gadgets and applications have given access to other information and have helped in the increase of rape, kidnap, abuse etc. Poverty, water crisis, increase of diseases, global warming, wildlife extinction, terrorism etc are the major problems prevailing in the society. Technology should even focus on the ways to avoid and prevent such problems from taking place, he added.

He urged the students to come up with innovations, whether big or small, which help foster a better living.

Fr Joseph Lobo said termed the fest a 'celebration'. "There are various things to be celebrated in this fest, like Tech Feast, College day etc. We celebrate ‘U’ and your personnel abilities," he said.

"Taking the first step is the best step towards achieving success. We need to initiate things with courage in order to bring a difference in life, to achieve things and overcome problems as brave men and women," he added.

In his presidential address, Dr Joseph Gonsalves said that this fest is the place to put forth ideas and to participate in various discussions and boost one's knowledge. Engineers make use of discoveries and find new gadgets to help the mankind and to make life comfortable and much easier, he said.
