Mangalore, Mar 17: The alumnae association of Besant Women's College organized ‘Rhyme and Rhythm', a musical nite as part of a charity show at the college auditorium on Saturday March 16.

The melodious music was performed by the up and coming youth band of the city 'Rhythm of Love'.  The band dwelt upon different kinds of music varying from western country music to Bollywood, Sandalwood numbers, and many others.

The audience enjoyed foot-tapping numbers like ‘Aayi ye meherban’, ‘Rhythm of love’, ‘Ninna poojege bande maadheshwara’, ‘Pareshaan’, ‘Oh hum dum suniyore’, and many others. Audiences were seen enjoying and dancing to the beats of the band.

A cultural programme by the current and former students of the college added an extra zeal to the evening’s entertainment. The dance performance started with ‘Navadurga dance’ which enthralled the audience.

Other activities like quiz contest and games were also conducted to entertain the audience.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Nandini Raguchandra, president, alumnae association, said the remaining funds will be utilized for the education of underprivileged children. “Every year the alumnae association which consists of about 150 members contributes for the needy children but this year we have come up with a music show to raise funds,” she said.

“The alumnae association which meets up at least four times a year, planned this musical nite within a short span of three weeks,” she added.

Dr Manjula K T, principal, Besant Women’s College, in her welcome address, thanked the alumnae association, especially executive members, for putting up such a beautiful programme which would in turn help the needy students. She said this attitude will make every alumnae association progress in all their activities.
