Mangalore, Jun 27: "The Manipal gang rape incident has brought shame to the whole community once again. It has been almost a week since the incident took place, but so far no arrests have been made which shows inefficiency of police," said Nithin Kuttar, district president of SFI.

He addressed the public during the protest organized by SFI in front of DC office on Thursday June 27 demanding justice to the rape victim.

"Similar incidents are on the rise in coastal districts and police are not able to catch culprits whichseems like the police officials are supporting them. People had a lot of expectation from the new government, but within few days of cabinet formation, this incident took place," he alleged, demanding the home minister to take serious actions.

"The brutal rape and murder which took place in Belthangady, we have not received justice so far even after so many months passed. Police brief at press meets and say that they are trying their best to catch culprits but they have not found anyone yet," he alleged.

"If officials fail to arrest the culprits soon, then we will intensify by protesting in front of police stations, he added.

DYFI president Imthiyaaz said "police are offering prize money to people to help them in catching culprits which shows inefficiency of police that they cannot catch the culprit on their own."

PFI leaders Sanketh Kuttar, Mahasoori Mayuri, Swathi, Santhosh D’Souza, Sharif among others were present. Large number of students boycotted classes and participated in the protest.
