St Ann’s College of Education inaugurates BEd Course

Mangalore, Mar 7: St Ann’s College of Education inaugurated the B Ed course for the academic year 2013 – 2014 on March 6.

The inaugural programme began with a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr Eugene Lobo , Ssuperior, Fatima Retreat House, Mangalore in the St. Ann’s Convent Chapel.

“To be a successful teacher one should have trust in oneself and God. Overcoming all difficulties and anxieties will lead one to reach the goal”, was the message given by the Celebrant during the Holy Mass.

The formal inaugural programme began with a meaningful prayer service conducted by the teacher trainees. Yoganada G, joint director, Department of Collegiate Educational Regional Office, Mangalore was the chief guest and in his address appreciated the College for its quality excellence and marked it as the best model as a B Ed College.

As a lot of strain and effort is stretched in the UGC 12th plan, as teachers we have to focus on the 5Es – Enrollment, Empowerment, Equality Excellence, Expansion and thus bring value to Education by making its best contributions to the community.

The student cabinet for the year 2013 – 2014 was also inaugurated through a meaningful oath taking ceremony administered by the principal Dr Sr Clare  To enhance the quality of the publications of the college, the college Journal 'St Ann’s National Journal of Education, 2014'  was released by the Chief Guest. Dr Flosy Clara D’Souza, Chief Editor of the Journal presented the glimpses of the same.

The cultural programme comprising of a kannada song expressing unity in diversity was sung by the teacher trainees. A glimpse of the rich heritage and cultural traditions of Gujarat was performed through a Gujarati Dance ‘Dole Baje”.

Dr Sr Shalini, joint secretary and superior, St Ann’s Institutions and the president of the programme blessed the B Ed students and wished them all to succeed in all their future endeavours. Valene Noronha compered the programme and Sushma Pearl proposed vote of thanks.

    Good to see the inaugural of the new B. Ed college, but i would suggest if admission is based on low % for those who really want to pursue the b.ed course, but is unable to get the admission if the % is below 45% at the degree level.Please take out with flying suggestions.
